COVID-19 has changed everything about life, work & leisure activities. The Old Rugbeian Golfing Society is focused on how to best protect and support our members in the face of this unfolding pandemic. This inevitably means that our programme is (we hope) temporarily curtailed – so please keep in touch with this website; and please note and comply with all restrictions in force at golf clubs. On behalf of all ORGS members our thoughts are with those who are affected.

Welcome to the
Old Rugbeian Golfing Society
The Society has been providing enjoyable and competitive golf to Old Rugbeians since 1924. The ORGS was formed in 1924 to allow, it is said, Rugby to take part in the inaugural Halford Hewitt competition (the most prestigious golf competition for former pupils). But, as you will see from this site, the Society is more about normal handicap golf (even if all members support and wish all success to our representative teams).
This website is aimed at existing members, but it will also show any reader something of the activities of the Society. The ORGS invites all Rugbeian golfers, male or female, who have (or should have) a handicap and who are not already members, to become a member of the Society and take part in our events. It is our aim that those taking part should have an enjoyable day of golf, often on great golf courses and always in good company – in short, to have fun.
Our website was established in 2016 by the webmaster – Rob Prior (C 81-86). Please don’t hesitate to send any views about the website, and how it could be improved, or indeed anything to do with the ORGS to our Hon Secretary (see tab above).
The banner along the top of this page shows the distinctive Society colours, a variation of the Old Rugbeian colours. The Society also has its own grace, written for the late David Doherty (M 41-45) by the Provost of Leicester in 1988, David’s year as Captain.
For drives that soar, for chips that hold,
For putts that drop when twice too bold,
For golfing friends and golfing days,
To God we give our thanks and praise.
Do please browse this site; and any OR who would like to join should contact the Hon Secretary whose details you will find in his message (see tab above). Please read that message, and in particular take note of the remarks about insurance and liabilities.
