Jamie Clark (M 65-70) was unanimously elected as Captain for the 2016/17 year at  the Annual General Meeting of the Society at the Autumn Meeting on 9th /10th September at Rye.  In other business, Alick Hay (SF 62-66) was elected as Vice-Captain and the statement of income and expenses (showing a small surplus for the year to12th July 2016) was accepted.

The weather at Rye for the Autumn Meeting was kind, with the rain on Saturday that fell on much of the country, staying away until late in the last round.  Both courses were in excellent condition, though the rough was challenging particularly as a stiffish breeze blowing across on many holes meant that anything not straight would be unlikely to stay on the fairway.

There has always been a House prize for the boys’ houses at the Autumn Meeting but this year the separate prize for ladies’ houses was awarded for the first time to Dean.  Congratulations to Rebecca Garner (D 92-94) for this first.

The Autumn Cup, competed for over all four rounds, was won by Bruce Webster (SF 49-54) with a score well ahead of all rivals. Runner-up was Charles Maisey (K 65-70).  The Raymond Wills claret jug (best of 3 rounds for those over 55) was taken by Antony Aitken (M 57-62) and the Pattison Memorial prize (score plus age) was won by Robert Lyons (K 55-60).  The various prizes for the individual rounds are shown below.

The meeting in 2017 will be a week later on 15th / 16th September.
