2017 Match v Uppingham at Luffenham Heath Golf Club

Match lost 3.5 – 1.5

This year the annual Old Rugbeian Golfing Society fixture against the Old Uppinghamian Golfing Society moved to Leffenham Heath Golf Club in Rutland as the usual venue was unable to accommodate the match.

Both teams met for lunch prior to teeing off and by all accounts it was a most enjoyable day despite the round taking rather longer than one would hope. In fact, those who played enjoyed the course so much that the fixture is set to remain at Luffenham Heath in 2018 although it has been suggested that the teams will meet for lunch at 12 noon to ensure those with long journeys home will have more daylight for their return journey.

The Old Uppinghamian team comprised of: Martin Walker (Captain), David Hopkins, John Muncey, William Warrack, Stephen Pitchers, John Waite, Tont Waite and Richard Murmann.

The Old Rugbeian team comprised of: Charles Carver, Paul Wilson-Gunn, Richard Caley, Richard. Bray, Ian Symington, Anthony Given, Spencer Burnham and Guy Steele-Bodger
